Los Vigiles is a local Latino band from Spokane, Washington that is comprised of mostly family members. The band formed in 1999 and continues to perform throughout the Northwest playing at festivals, cultural and community events, business events, and other music related venues. Los Vigiles plays a wide range of different musical styles unique to Latino and World music genres. Some of these styles include Rumba Flamenco, Salsa, Cha Cha, Cumbia, Bolero, and Tex-Mex. The music of Los Vigiles is guitar and percussion-centric with an emphasis on vocals, accordion, and keys.
Members from the group include Ricardo Vigil on drums and vocals, Joe Vigil on guitar and vocals, Christina Vigil on vocals, Gabe Garcia on guitar, George Vigil on congas, Luis Vigil on percussion, Mario Vigil on bass, and featuring Rene Ochoa on Accordion and keys.
The philosophy of Los Vigiles strongly emphasizes family and community as a primary way of connecting music and culture with people. The current landscape of popular music overemphasizes self-promotion, production and consumption, and media hype, Los Vigiles provides an alternative experience of creating and communicating music in a way that promotes culture and community.
